Details
Everything I know about this piece is inference. ;) I think it is a tourist piece from post WWII or early 1950's.
It appears to be made from handwoven fabric. The fabric is stiff and all the threads are of an even weight. Maybe a silk? The entire piece is made of two same sized pieces sewn together. Makes me think of a small home loom. The color is a soft warm coral pink.
All the embroidery is very well-done and the thread colors are vibrant in shades of coral pink, brown, sage green and yellow.
The archipelago is depicted with call-out for: Pacific Ocean, China Sea, Luzo, Lingayen, Bataan, Manila, Corregidor, Bacud Beach, Marinduque, San Jose, S. Tacloban, Visaya, Leyte, Mindanao, Davao, and Zamboanga.
All four corners have a palm tree and a typical home.
Condition: Water stains on the fabric throughout. I have not tried to remove them.
Size: 45.5 x 45 inches
